what is different with bard after he becomes king?

in some ways bard does not change at all after he becomes king. he remains a grim, responsible sort of man. he will always be a family man, a loving father and unfailingly loyal to those he holds dear. he has a deeply ingrained sense of justice, one that does not always make sense to those around him, but he believes in upholding his values and morals. he is still a protector and champion of the people, and feels suspicious towards those who hold power in their hands.

in other ways, bard is not so… quick to judge, anymore. the pressure and strain of royal rule rather take him by surprise. it is much more difficult and much more demanding than he thought it would be. things are not nearly so black and white as he expected, and most choices come with some sort of price. he becomes more impatient in a world where patience and endurance is everything. he does not do so well with that, especially in the beginning.

i am certain there are other things that change when bard goes from being a simple bargeman to ruler of a kingdom that was laid to waste and has such history, but this is what i could come up with off the top of my head right now. <3
