“By sheer luck.” Kili admitted swirling the wine in his cup before taking a sip from it. “The poison reacted with the ale, bringing in a foul scent we discovered when we brought the goblets to our lips.” He explained, remembering the huge commotion that exploded after that particular discovery.

“Then both me and Erebor are thankful.” Kili said giving the man a thankful smile, lifting his cup up a bit. “How are things going here? Do you need any more resources, help with the trade, for the winter?” Kili asked.

”Luck seems to be on your side, my friend.” A brightness came over Bard’s eyes as he sipped from his cup, a sort of… boyish mischief, almost. “Perhaps you should sit by my side the next time I find myself in a company and a pair of dice in my hand, hm?”

All manner of merriment and jest side, Bard considered Kili’s questions with a serious expression and deliberation. “I shall not make the mistake of being too prideful or arrogant to say we have enough, for I simply do not know. Winter has come early this year, and while I should like to say we are well-stocked, with confidence, I dare say between our two kingdoms we may be able to do much better in finding our way to Spring. Is this something you would wish to relay to your uncle for me?”
