if your tags with female's with bow you say something like, bard would, or whatever but you didn't put that with katniss. could you never see bard and katniss in a ship? even a crack ship?

mmmm i did say that, didn’t i, nonny? but then the next tag also said #except he wouldn’t because he’s bard, which relates directly to what i wrote about bard and women/shipping here.

i will happily admit that in a corner of my mind (we shall refer to it as the “To Hell With My Characterization”-corner!), i could see myself shipping them. but a moment later, it all feels a little… thin? because what would i be basing it on? their archery skills? the fact that they’re both grim-spirited and hard-asses but they’d do anything for their family? the fact they’ve lost someone they loved deeply? that they’re both the primary providers for their family?  yes, these are absolutely very important character points they could connect on, and see eye to eye, and grow to respect one another, but a romantic connection…? i’m not entirely convinced.

i think it primarily comes from me almost seeing bard as a potential father figure to katniss, and seeing potential similarities between bard and mr everdeen (what little we know of him). i actually have a wishlist in my head (which will be turned into an actual post at some point), where one wish is a thg au where bard is actually katniss’ father (where he obviously did not die). i have very vivid images of bard hunting in the woods with a young katniss, and teaching her archery, images i’ve grown quite fond of.

so you may see why, after the initial fancy of a thought, i find it hard to really ship bard/katniss. but hey, it’s awesome if you do! they’re two amazing characters, and i’m sure some rpers could pull off the pairing quite wonderfully. x
