she  rolled her eyes as subtly as she could, later one he would have to explain to
gale’s  farther  that  he was late because katniss and her mother had a fight then
gale would be mad at katniss for making his  farther  work  harder.  everything  in
district 12 had the ripple effect, it was so small and the community was so close
;  everyone  knew  everyone’s business. she still wouldn’t look at her farther, she
knew taking one look would let her crumble and he would won. she had been in
this place too many times ; too many times had she let her farther talk  her  in  to
      forgiving her mother easily.

                  ❝i dont know.❞

she mumbled, before the fight katniss had finished braiding prim’s hair but she
didn’t know if she had packed her bag.

❝walk her to school, if you want, i’m not ready yet.❞

“Suit yourself.” Walking towards the door, Bard briefly paused to look over his shoulder at his sullen daughter.

“I was thinking of heading into the woods after work today. I guess I’ll be going alone, seeing as you’ll be staying late in school with added homework, if you’re gonna be late in heading out now…”

It was a low blow, and they both knew it. But it was effective, as well (most days; more often than not,  Katniss stood in her own way). More than anything, Bard wanted his eldest along on this poaching trip. She was an excellent hunter, and he very much enjoyed their quality time together. “If I’ll even be able to go. Bringing Primrose to school is going to make me even later for work, so I may have some overtime to do… We’ll see, hm?”
