She beamed up at him, rocking on her heels. “I came to visit for a couple of reasons actually, and yes I’m splendid thank you. First off I have these for you…” She turned about digging around in her little side bag pulling out a couple parcels, and a few small packets. “The spices were finally dried enough.” She handed them to him. Fidgeting with her pocket on her apron she watched him. “I also heard that your youngest had a birthday coming…” She chewed her lip, trying to contain her excitement. She loved celebrating things. All sorts of things. If there was a holiday, she would be the first to get in a tizzy about it. “Have you got anything sly planned…?”

                A grateful smile, and Bard opened the door wider and stepped to the side in silent invitation for Jessamine to enter the small, but cozy house. “These spices smell amazing, Jessa, thank you. I am certain Sigrid and I will derive much joy from working with them. And you will of course be welcome for dinner when we do make use of them. I believe there’s a fish stew these would work wonderfully in.” Closing the door, Bard made his way into the kitchen, looking over his shoulder at her with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes. “There is plenty I wish to give and do for my little girl. But coin is scarce this month.” He shrugged, quietly resisting the urge to frown. “We will find a way to make the day special. We always do.”
